Spring is here and newest crop of students have finally arrived at Crux Academy and Nebulae Institute. Both campuses are abuzz with activity as first years filter in, some confused, others excited and honored to be attending such a prestigious institution. Class assignments would be found on the large bulletin board toward the front of campus, and while some friends may find themselves once again sharing the same class, others will be given the opportunity to nurture new relationships with future friends (or enemies).

Classes for the first day will be short, punctuated by a welcoming ceremony led by each school's respective headmaster and headmistress, as well as an upperclassman that has some significance to the rest of the student body. Students are then permitted to take the rest of the day for themselves, to get acclimated to the campus as well as Galactica, should they so choose. Why not explore the school? Take a trip into the city? Or perhaps get to know your dorm mate, classmates or fellow faculty members? Or perhaps, if you are that sort of person, terrorize the town? The choice is yours.

a. school campus

[ Sonico's not great with directions at the best of times and the whole "magical girl at a magical girl school" business has made her a little more frazzled than she'd usually be. So, she's doing her best to make her way around the school and work out where she's going but... it's not really working. Well, that's putting it nicely -- she's completely, hopelessly lost.

So, you might find her wandering around the campus, clutching a map like it's a lifeline and shaking from head to toe. Someone's not having a great first day. ]

b. around galactica

[ once she's gotten her bearings around the school a bit, Sonico decides to take to the city to check things out and she seems far more relaxed out there than she did at Crux. She's got a big, sunny smile on her face as she takes in the city and wanders the streets with the kind of face you'd expect to see on a little kid on her way to see Santa.

For the most part, she sticks to the mall; stopping off at a cute patisserie to get some macarons (of course), nosing at the stores to see what kind of games they sell and even stopping off at the music store to have a peek at the guitars.

If you'd like to try and make friends, now might be a better time, given that she seems a little more relaxed than she did back at Crux. ]

[By now, Link's an old pro at these first days and every year there were at least a few students who looked a little overwhelmed by the whole thing. It was a feeling he knew well, it had been a big adjustment moving out here from a quiet country village. He's well used to it now though so the least he can do is offer a helping hand when needed.]

Hey. [Spotting Sonico he makes his way over, smiling slightly in greeting.] Do you need any help?

[ she flinches a bit at the sound of an unfamiliar voice and shrinks back a little, hands gripping the map tight enough to crinkle the paper. After a moment, she manages to swallow and wet her dry mouth enough that, when she nods, she can follow it up with some words, too. ]

I--I... was looking for the dormitories but I'm... I--I'm not really sure where I am or where I'm going... I keep getting turned around.

[He blinks a bit seeing the girl flinch and shrink back from his approach. Wow... she's really nervous about being in this place. He stays where he is, lowering his hands to his sides and nodding.]

Well... you're actually pretty far off from the dorms. [He edges forward a bit, raising a hand toward her.] If you let me see your map, I can show you where you are.

Um—a—are you sure? I—I mean—I appreciate it, b—but I don’t want to cause you any trouble...

[ really, all she wants to do is give him her map and trail after him like a lost puppy until she gets where she wanted to go, but she’s sure this is a busy day for everyone, not just her. The last thing she wants to do is end up wasting someone’s time with her inability to navigate the school properly. ]

It's not a problem at all. It's easy to get lost when you're new here but after you get your bearings it's not so bad.

[He takes the chance to move up next to her, pointing to a stop on her map. He could just let her follow him to where she needed to go, but helping her to find her own way would be better in the long run, right?]

See, we're standing here right now and the dorms are all the way up here. [He traces the path out on the map then raises his hand pointing up toward one of the taller campus buildings.] The best thing to do if you get mixed up is keep your eyes up there, it makes a good landmark.

[ Yohko's used to these things happening to her, but she doesn't like it. She just wants to take a nap at this point. She feels like she's been lost for hours!

Luckily, it's only been 20 minutes and she's at least not late for any class. Today. The future holds a lot of detention for her.

Seeing Sonico dazed and confused about the layout of the campus brings her great relief. She walks up to her, confident she has found someone that Understands. ]

You look as confused as I am! This place is like a maze!

[ she flinches just a bit at being addressed so suddenly and for a split second, she glances over her shoulder, as if she’s looking for someone else because this girl clearly wouldn’t be addressing her – but then when she realizes that yes, she is, Sonico goes more than a little red and hastens to reply. ]

Oh, uh—um— y—yes, it is a little...! I—I’ve been trying to f—follow this map around and see where everything is, b—but... I--I think I’ve just been going in circles for a while now...

[ she keeps her eyes on her map, fidgeting with her feet, a little too unsure of herself to look this girl right in the face. ]

[Hey, Sonico, have you got any idea what's going on? No? Great, Neptune doesn't either.]

[He's been adventuring around the Crux campus too, with map in hand, but fortunately has a better sense of where he is. As soon as he notices Sonico, he stops; cute girl looks terrified at new location? Time for Neptune Vasilias to swoop in and save the day, clearly.]

[With his priorities in perfect order as usual, Neptune approaches her, shooting her a toned down version of his patented lady-killer smile. After all, she's already upset, so he doesn't want to freak her out even further.]

Hey there, miss. Need a hand?

[ for what feels like the hundredth time today, Sonico flinches at being addressed, out of what feels like nowhere. She looks up from her map, face red – it’s more than a little embarrassing to realize just how obviously out of her depth she must seem for a complete stranger to be able to pick it out like that. She swallows hard and manages to nod, unable to keep herself from fidgeting a little bit as she replies. ]

Um—I—I was just looking for some and the classrooms... a—and the dorm rooms, but... I—I got a little lost, and...

[ she trails off and drops her gaze, too embarrassed to finish that sentence. Broadcasting your complete lack of a sense of direction isn’t exactly the best kind of first impression to make on your new classmates.

Your new, magical classmates, she reminds herself and feels even worse. ]

Hey, don't worry about it. [Neptune speaks with a gentle tone, and puts his hands up in a placating gesture. This girl is so cute. Like a puppy. Neptune never expected to compare an attractive teenage girl to a puppy before, but there's no other way to describe it.] We're all new here. I'm lost too. [Not totally true, but he's more concerned about making Sonico feel better.]

[Kirino's been wandering aimlessly through Galactica ever since he's... well, sort of settled in. He's still not even entirely sure he should be here.

He's stopped in the patisserie, although he's been mulling over what to get for the past few minutes.]

... Everything looks so good, it's hard to decide... [It's said to no one in particular. but the way he's trailing off almost invites a response.]

[ she’s munching her way through a crisp, apple-green macaron when he speaks up and she glances at him, blinking in confusion. There doesn’t seem to be anyone else around, so... is he addressing her?

She swallows her mouthful of pastry and after a moment, she pipes up - ]

... Um... I—if you like almonds, th—then you could try the macarons...?

... ah! [He... hadn't actually been expecting an answer, but... well, he had been thinking out loud, hadn't he? He gives a small (albeit somewhat sheepish) smile.] Alright, thank you, I'll try those, then!

[Once he gets some macarons for himself, he makes his way over.] So, ah... you new to the city as well?
