Spring is here and newest crop of students have finally arrived at Crux Academy and Nebulae Institute. Both campuses are abuzz with activity as first years filter in, some confused, others excited and honored to be attending such a prestigious institution. Class assignments would be found on the large bulletin board toward the front of campus, and while some friends may find themselves once again sharing the same class, others will be given the opportunity to nurture new relationships with future friends (or enemies).

Classes for the first day will be short, punctuated by a welcoming ceremony led by each school's respective headmaster and headmistress, as well as an upperclassman that has some significance to the rest of the student body. Students are then permitted to take the rest of the day for themselves, to get acclimated to the campus as well as Galactica, should they so choose. Why not explore the school? Take a trip into the city? Or perhaps get to know your dorm mate, classmates or fellow faculty members? Or perhaps, if you are that sort of person, terrorize the town? The choice is yours.

Teacher?

[ Lux blinks a few times, then tries not to laugh. ]

Oh, no, I'm not a teacher. I'm just a student like you.

[ Oh, you really were new, weren't you? She was rambling and Lux, being the sort of girl she was, did her best to try to follow. But she wasn't quite sure what Konata was going on about. ]

All right, slow down. It's okay. I can tell you're far from home. Let's take it one thing at a time, okay?

[Konata stammers, and now feels silly She looks uuuup. Well... Where to begin? She had been picked to be a magical girl, she was in another universe, and she had the potential to be a main character in a dating sim.

This was cooler when she blew up monsters and didn't have to be responsible. This time, she bows again, but this time in a more normal fashion, trying to get a breath.]

My name is Konata Izumi, and I am from the Saitama Prefecture, and I am a big fan of comics and manga, and I am now a protagonist of a very weird one.

I want to go home.

All right, that's a start. I'm Lux Crownguard, it's nice to meet you. Getting home isn't difficult, but you just got here, right? Maybe give it a chance first before throwing in the towel?

[ Although there was one thing that was nagging at her. She probably shouldn't say anything, given her state, but maybe it was something she was missing. ]

What is a comic, exactly?

[Konata sighed. She could return, and... well, that'd involve a lot more business she'd have to deal with in regards to getting drunk with power and wanting to take over the Earth before getting bored.

At her request, she will give it a chance, but-- what?]

You don't know what a comic is? My, my... how can you not know? It's a comic! It's...

[Brings a notebook, and drabbles a small, silly comic, and proudly shows it to Lux.]

You tell a story through tiny pictures and panels! Most times it has text, but there can be whole worlds in them! Whole stories and doujinshi probably not allowed on campus!

[ Lux blinks a few times, watching her quickly doodle something. Wait, was that--why was that giant spotted bear eating that... what was that? ]

Dou--what? Why not just use words? It seems a lot easier.

[ Yes she is completely missing the point here. ]

Hnn...! Haven't you heard that a picture says a thousand words? That's what it's about! If you want to use text bubbles with your images, it works! If you have a story to go along with a picture, it's a light novel! Sometimes pictures work even better than novels!

[Not that Konata reads a lot anyway, but how can someone not know or appreciate their use? Due to this, Konata now pulls Lux's hand.]

Come on! Is there a store around in this city! I will show you if I have to!

[ She looks a bit confused now. But at least Konata seems to be in better spirits. ]

But classes are starting soon. We need to head toward the auditorium for convocation.

Classes are starting now? Won't we even get time to get settled in? I want my hobbies...

[Konata whines like a (fittingly) little girl, then points at Lux!]

You! You know this place better, so while I'm away from Miyuki-san, you're directing where do we go.

[ Taken aback by the sudden, dramatic pointing, the blond blinks a few times. ]

Um, I mean I certainly don't mind, but...

[ What? ]

A-all right, let me see your schedule. I can direct you from there.

My schedule? Hn....

[Konata brings her schedule up! Literally, as she's most likely vastly shorter than Lux, like a little girl showing her schooltime drawings.

Which, her schedule looks like, with the sketches she made on it.]

Mind you, I haven't paid a lot of attention to classes, and I might need to start, now...

Let's see.

[ Oh gosh it's so messy, how is she even supposed to read this? She doesn't have to look down much, Lux herself being quite petite at just barely five feet.

She tries not to react, although that comment gets a bit of an eyebrow twitch. ]

I would advise you get into some healthy study habits sooner rather than later.

I'm a master at pulling all-nighters! It's how my grades keep up, and keeping good study partners I can rely on.

[Speaking of which.]

Wanna be my study partner?

[ She should be polite, but... ]

I'll have to regretfully decline.
