NEW BEGINNINGS

Spring is here and newest crop of students have finally arrived at Crux Academy and Nebulae Institute. Both campuses are abuzz with activity as first years filter in, some confused, others excited and honored to be attending such a prestigious institution. Class assignments would be found on the large bulletin board toward the front of campus, and while some friends may find themselves once again sharing the same class, others will be given the opportunity to nurture new relationships with future friends (or enemies).

Classes for the first day will be short, punctuated by a welcoming ceremony led by each school's respective headmaster and headmistress, as well as an upperclassman that has some significance to the rest of the student body. Students are then permitted to take the rest of the day for themselves, to get acclimated to the campus as well as Galactica, should they so choose. Why not explore the school? Take a trip into the city? Or perhaps get to know your dorm mate, classmates or fellow faculty members? Or perhaps, if you are that sort of person, terrorize the town? The choice is yours.

[She had seen a lot of excessive costumes before, but Kamala came from the school of thought that tighter was better, or at least form fitting.]

[She considers this for a very long moment. Then slowly shakes her head.]

No, I don't think I will. This is much more enjoyable.

[ Ah, that's true. She's been unconsciously avoiding stepping on it or tripping it, but this train in particular... ] I've managed before.....

[ And that is a deafening roar from the damaged building. Somebody is back up and he is not happy at being tossed around like it's nothing.

The enemy charges! ]

[A curtsy? Really? Jeez Crux was really bringing in the prim and proper this year, weren't they?

She'll actually return the gesture, simply to help with the image that she's some really helpful student here. Then she'll take a step back.]

[ Maids and butlers again. This will help Towa focus solely on her classwork, so she can see how that would be a sensible system...

...yet doesn't that also foster imbalance in their lifestyles? Plus, the dorm didn't look large enough to house that many staff. Uncertainty nags again, so Towa's smile falters as she dips her head to this "thoughtful" older student. But only slightly. ] Good day.

[ Should she get out her bell and ring it to see what happens....? Hmm. ]

[And Eas turns to go off on her way. Except that she's really just looking to get out of Towa's line of sight so she can observe and see if the other girl actually gives it a try.]

[ Towa does pause after the other girl has taken her leave, placing a thoughtful hand to her chin.

Then she opens her luggage and begins rooting around in it for something... ]

[...Was she doing it? It looked like she was going to do it.

[There's nothing forced about his grin. The strain in her smile isn't too hard to see and he just shrugs again.]

I guess so. I'd introduce myself, but a hopeless dunce like you don't need to know my name.

I suppose... Hey, we're busy here!

[And Kamala plants a giant boot in its face, and kicks it back into the building.] Stay down!

I'm Ms Marvel. And you?

[...ah. She knows this feeling. Mami hesitates, then she nods her head.]

I'm sorry. She may yet appear, so don't lose hope. But... think of what Megumi would say, if she was here, perhaps.

She would want you to make the best of things, wouldn't she?

Oh, yes! Let's. This sounds like a wonderful idea.

[Mami smiles back brightly; this isn't new. But... having a chance to be friends with someone, even briefly, is quite nice. Old feelings of loneliness and old habits die hard.]

Would you like to start it, or shall I? I think I have a good idea of what to do. Ah, and-- [She points at part of the screen.] --that section will show you our faces, so we can see what the other is doing. Spontaneity is half of the fun.

[ What's wrong? Chaos spider just wants to get all close and friendly-like. Why you gotta do him like that, Mumi? Moving a bit closer, it crawls up onto the back of the bench, before settling next to her arm on the top.

Don't worry, he won't bite unless asked. ]

Wow, talk about rude, blondie. I didn't realize that Crux kids were so judgmental.

I was hardly being judgmental! It was a fair thing to notice.

[She sighs, melodramatically, and... moves her arm. Then Mami cuts the little spider a look. WHY MUST IT BE SPIDERS? D:]

I thought you might be, let's say, someone's familiar. Or perhaps their pet.

Oh yeah?

[ Congratulations, you've actually gotten her attention, Ban. Tilting her head a bit more, her eyebrows raise slightly in intrigue. ]

So are you just gonna sit there and tell me about it, or are you going to show me? Unless you're making it up. Or you're too scared.

[ BECAUSE SPIDERS ARE FLUFFY AND ADORABLE. Don't judge.

Her voice raises a bit in pitch, as Lumina has gotten a little bored of this game. ]

He's not a familiar. Just a little creature I invited over from the void.

[ Hopping down from a nearby, dressed in a striped sweater and short, frilly black skirt, she puts a fist under her chin. She smiles smugly. ]

But I thought someone like you would be able to figure that out. What do they teach you in that school anyway?

Are these heroes commonplace in your world?

[ Her eyebrows raise a bit. ]

Then I suppose you'll be nothing more than a petty thug.

Fairly commonplace. There's a new team about once every year or so. At least for the Sentai. And Precure too.

Interesting! I hadn't realized that such things weren't uncommon on Earth. I always assumed that they were quite rare.

I thought your voice was being thrown.

[Mami looks up from the spider to Lumina, after she leaps down. Her scowl turns into a more neutral expression; Mami tries to be pointedly polite to people, especially if she picks up on hostility.]

[Of course, the cracks are visible; she's tense and nervous, and she eyes Lumina with a frown that she can't quite repress.]

They teach us a number of useful skills. And we make quite a few wonderful friends there. But... not a great deal about void spiders.

[Mami don't nervously glance at the spider, it ruins the effect--too late]

[ Ah, that's where she should focus! Towa stares as if the screen might start getting up and tap-dancing at any point - and with just about as much anticipation, too.

Oh dear, now she's getting nervous. But it's an excited nervousness. ] Then, after you.....

[ And she shall follow your lead flawlessly!! This is her plan, anyway. ]

[ ....Where Scarlet is from, a Princess should aim to be "strong, kind, and beautiful." Her new acquaintance certainly appears to have mastered the first requirement.

She overcomes her surprise (and her admiration) in time to remember regal posture for her curtsy. ] My name is Cure Scarlet. Good day.

[ There's introductions. She pulls a violin out of seemingly nowhere (her hair, maybe?) and places it beneath her chin, eyes on the fallen monster. ] Shall we dispatch the enemy together, Ms. Marvel?

[ Towa brings out a small hand bell, then looks around. She zippers up her bag again and begins walking briskly towards the center of the courtyard in front of the dorms. This princess is On A Mission now. ]

Well I'd most likely say it's because we're being attacked so much by otherworldly enemies that it causes so much flare up of heroes.
