The appearance of a wizard on campus was news, as Rinko strode to the pedestal of the lecture hall.

"Good morning class, and welcome to Ring Magic 101." She was a bit nervous but confident she could pull this off, as she held up her hand with an ornate ring on the middle finger.

"This special elective for the school is something new, something I've been asked to teach. My name is Rinko Daimon, and I am a wizard."

She picked up another ring from the podium and slid it onto her right hand. "We wizards use magic stones set into rings, and I will be teaching you the basics on how to handle, encounter, and deal with a wizard if they ever go rogue, or a phantom who might appear."

Placing her hand at her waist, a male voice proclaimed "FLOWER NOW."

Flowers bloomed on each persons desk. "Ring magic is very versatile, and comes in many forms. From utility to battle magic."

"So, be prepared to learn."

What lovely flowers! Towa moves her notebook so they won't get in the way of the cluster, jotting down a few notes about what she's learned. "Ring...magic..." she whispers to herself; this is all new to her, as the magic in her world uses keys. How fascinating!

She's busy enough writing, however, that she isn't maintaining eye contact with the teacher. There's a chance she might miss the next part of the lesson.

"As I said, rings come in many forms and shapes," said Rinko, picking up another ring. "A medium is used to transform as well, which is the belt I wear."

Moving into view, she wore a hand-shaped buckle as she placed a ring on her hand. "One of our powers is very simple actually."

"TELEPHONE, NOW!"

As one, someone's cell phone would go off in the room as Rinko holds a magic circle to her ear. "My world had no use for technology once this ring was discovered."

"Ah!"

Towa jumps in her seat when the teacher yells, looking around in confusion as someone else's cell phone goes off. Oh, it was...it was just part of the lesson. Silly her.

Cheeks flushing, she makes a note about the belts, then presses a hand to her chest and sighs. That had really startled her....

"As you can see, our belts are very energetic," said Rinko, placing the telephone ring on the table.

"They announce the ring in a very energetic voice, and it's often customized to our own voice."

Trying to look very small, Towa puts her notebook down and folds her hands primly atop it. One finger twitches as she thinks of a question, but would that be discourteous?

"Now I know that some of you must be dying to know what exactly this can do. So I'll open the floor. Raise your hand and ask, c'mon don't be shy."

Rinko hoped she was doing a good job with this too.

"In that case..." Towa's hand raises gingerly into the air. "How widespread is the use of this power?"

This is the first she's heard of it. But there are so many things in the world that she doesn't know, so she really needs to prepare for everything!

"In my world, everyone has the power to use magic. It's very common across the ages and the professions. However, there are some who are born without the power to use magic."

Like the prince for example. "I haven't been on normal earth for a while, so it's unsure how many people have magic right now."

"I see." Towa lowers her hand, satisfied. Perhaps she simply hasn't noticed the magic. She'll keep an eye open. "Thank you."

She sits up a little straighter at that on instinct. Princesses will be Princesses even if they're trying to learn self-reliance.

"Well then, before we get into the course, I'll do some handouts," said Rinko, going to her case and opening it up.

"Here's a list of known rings. Your task is to find five that you like on the list, and they will be your beginner rings."

Retreating into more student-like introspection once she receives her handout, Towa begins looking it over. She'll be drawn to any rings involving fire, light, warmth, or music, and will mark them with her pencil almost without realizing it.

"The ring chooses what it wants to be in our world. A magic stone holds a spell, but there isn't any definition to the spell. Ring-makers are but one of the professions we have," said Rinko.

"Some of the people in our world specialize in divination of the rings, to see what kind of spells a magic stone holds. Others, simply prefer to cut them into rings, and let the ring guide the user."

"Woah...!" Tsubomi yelped in surprise, seeing the flowers before her. She couldn't help but smell them - they were even real! But, all of that, just through "ring magic"? She had to learn more!

"Those who wish to learn more I can have custom rings fitted for you. Ring Magic is compatible with many forms, as it stems from the human world after all."

Rinko started passing out sheets, indicating that each person passes them down. "I have here a list of rings that would be suitable for each person here. Your task is to find three of them and submit your reasons for why you chose them."

Megumi sits up straighter when the demonstration takes place. Now that's convenient. Binding spells to objects instead of people.... She raises her hand.

"Sensei, why the male voice in particular?"

(She's not the best at asking questions, evidently.)

"The belt itself was modeled after our prince's power, and thus the voice was used," said Rinko.

"There are some who have female belts, but on a whole, a commanding male voice for the use of the belt has become the norm in our society."

That's... kind of sad. But that's just Megumi's own personal opinion.

"Do we need belts to use the rings, then, Sensei?" Does she need to get her own?

"Belts are the norm in our society, although some wizards have the ability to cast without them. For example."

And she put on a ring that looked like a hand and held it over her belt.

DRIVER ON. NOW.

A ornate black-and-red-and-silver buckle appeared on her belt. "This is the transformation device of our people."

It's all very technological to him.

"Transformation device? What do you transform into?"

She has a similar one of her own, so she's sitting up quite straight now.

"It turns us, into fully fledged wizards."

Reaching down, she twisted the device so that the hand was on the left. A voice began to chant.

"Shabidooie touch to henshin, shabidooie touch to henshin!"

Slipping a ring on her finger, she proclaimed, "Henshin," and placed her hand in front of the belt.

CHANGE, NOW! A fanfare played as a magic circle manifested as Rinko held out her arm to the side, and it played over her body transforming her into a brown-suited wizard with a gemtstone helmet covering her face.

Megumi got the 'touch to henshin' part, but not anything else. However, when Rinko transforms, there's evidently a look of delight on her face.

"Ooooh! That's so cool, Sensei! I can do something similar too. But no rings."

She isn't sure if she should demonstrate yet, but Rinko's current suit looked a little similar to hers.

"Glad to hear it. I'll look forward to your transformation." said Rinko with a smile.

Looking over her class, she added to what she said.

"Adaptation is the key part of Wizard magic. It is inherently compatible with others," said Rinko with a nod. "There'll be moments when an assignment will be combining Ring Magic with your own personal abilities."

[There is somebody that isn't.

Clad in a sparkling blue skirt and dozing off due to relentless hours at the night of questing in Magical World of Magic Online, Konata almost falls asleep over her desk, until her flower makes her sneeze.

Then falls back to sleep again.]

[Whelp. Time to make with the rings then.

Rinko sighed, saddened that her lecture hadn't woken everyone.] Splash, now.

[The belt chimed and a magic circle appeared in front of Konata, and a small stream of water burst from the center of it to soak the sleepy magical girl.]

[BBBLBLBLBLBLBLGHGHHHH!!!

Konata Izumi bolts awake within a moment as a current shot her face like a waterhose, having mastered the art of answering the moment a professor asked a question and she was distracted.]

SPLASHING NOW!

[Thus she grabs her wand and casts a circle on her desk -- a magic circle with a star and the runes for "WATER" "BALLOON" "HURRY".

A water sphere falls over her desk as soon as it is formed, splashing pathetically over her desk.]

I did it, see?

Very good Izumi-san, but you need to pay more attention when you have a moment.
