WE'VE GOT SCHOOL SPIRIT!

With the first term of the school year in full swing, and the first few weeks going off without a hitch, clubs, intramural teams and official sports teams at both Crux Academy and Nebulae Institute have begun meeting for the first time. With a wide number of different extra curricular and other various things to do around campus outside of class, students are highly encouraged to take part in one or multiple goings-on around their school. Both schools will be hosting an involvement fair (at different times, conveniently enough) in order to bolster enrollment in the various clubs or teams, and students are encouraged to at least give these different opportunities a try.

Not seeing a club or organization that catches your fancy? That's all right! Just make one yourself. So long as you have enough members (neither school has gone into too much detail about what constitutes "enough"), and are willing to share--or fight for, as the case may be--club room or field space, then you're set!

Interested in taking a more responsible approach? Various businesses around Galactica have begun hiring part time students. While many of the jobs are more than willing to take on Crux students, there are a few establishments that seem to prefer the cunning ways of Nebulae's student body. These jobs run the gamut between retail, babysitting, hospitality--really anything.

Additionally, the vocational school for monsters is looking for assistance in getting their students real-world experience. Be it helping them terrorize the town or giving them something to fight, this volunteer work is easy enough to find, and a good way to get some real world experience. Participation is highly encouraged.

Involvement Fair + On the Town

[ Lux loved the involvement fair. It was a chance to bring in some new blood to the various clubs that she was a part of, and while one of them (Lacrosse) was not actively recruiting, color guard was always on guard (/rimshot) for interested parties. A few students stood at the booth, decorated with the school's colors, pictures from previous performances, and various pieces of equipment used, Lux had taken to standing by, idly twirling one of the batons.

Quite well, in fact.

She didn't mean to be a show off, she really didn't, but a natural staff user herself, it was like an extension of her own arm, and after a while, she started to get a bit more showy with her movements. Turns, flourishes, tosses, all executed with perfect poise and beauty, she hardly noticed that she was drawing a crowd until, after a particularly high toss, the small crowd applauded.

Laughing a bit awkwardly, she took a small bow. Whoops. Well, at least they were getting attention? ]

[ After a particularly frustrating encounter with another Runeterra local, the cafe practically begged her to take a waitress position. Hearing that they were extremely short staffed, she was guilted into the job couldn't just say no.

So, dressed in her new uniform, Lux's life as a career woman (sort of) at the Delish Bliss cafe was assured. It was her first day solo on the job, and customers were generally very understanding. Please go easy on her! ]

Hi there. I'll be your waitress today. Are you ready to order?

[ fffffffffff really? REALLY? She had to get assigned to his table? Gritting her teeth a bit into a sneered smile, she tries to stay chipper. Kill it with kindness, when you can't kill it with lasers. ]

Yes, I should thank you for that. Apparently they saw that I am actually willing and able to deal with trouble customers and offered me the job on the spot.

You know just as well as I do that money is different here than they are from our world. Moreover, that we can't actually talk to people from our world about this place, if we do return. Or did you not listen to the headmistress's speech?

[ Whoops, that was too much sass. ]

Oh, do they offer lectures with their waitressing now? Not sure that jives with the whole "customer service" thing.

[ Trying not to visibly twitch. She may be gripping her pen a bit tightly. ]

[ "For now?" Ugh. She gives him a sickeningly sweet smile. ]

All right, I'll have your order out in a few minutes.

[ Excusing herself, he could probably see her shoulders were tense, and she was trying her best not to bristle. This guy. This freaking guy.

True to her word, she returns a few minutes later with his order, along with two dishes--one of which appears to be some kind of whipped cream, and the other some kind of marmalade. ]

Here you go.

Huh? What's all this?

[ Leave it to a Piltie to be so simple. She sets the plate and various items down on the table. ]

Your scone, like you ordered. The container on the right is a Devonshire cream, and on the left is a mandarin marmalade. Both of them are made in-house.

[ A beat. ]

You split it and either put them inside, or eat the pieces separately.

Weird. Thanks.

[ Ugh. Why is she even explaining this to you, it's not like some Piltie really cares about this sort of thing. ]

It's not weird. If anything, it's weird to eat them any other way.

[ It, and by proxy him, is heavily implied. She puts a hand on her hip. ]

I'll have you know that this place prides itself not only on its baked goods, but its jams and preserves as well. So you better not let the owner catch you talking like that, or she'll have your head.

This establishment has strange ideas about paying customers.

[ After a long pause. ]

It's a figure of speech. You don't actually think--

[ No, he was yanking her chain, and she could tell that he already had a nice, firm hold. Taking a deep breath, she gave him a rather forced smile. ]

I'll come check on you in a few minutes.

[ Once she manages to get her composure back. ]

[Fine by him. He's just gonna eat his scone. Like a boss dirty peasant]

[ Dirty peasant indeed. Returning after a small amount of time to check in on him, she looks down at the table--and the unused preserves and cream--then back at him, a wry look on her face. ]

[Mouth still half-full]

[ Someone was testing her, she knew it.

Someone other than him. ]

I can't help but notice that you haven't touched the preserves or the cream.

Hnn, it's about time. I feel like I've been waiting here forever... hey, is the service here always this slow, or is it just you?

[WELL, LOOK WHO IT IS, Nebulae's star slacker here apparently eager to try some of this restaurant's wares. Or maybe just to screw with its staff.

Probably the second one.]

Actually, don't bother answering, I don't really care. [With that, he flicks the menu forward onto the table rather than hand it to her and... leans back in his chair propping his dirty old shoes up on the table right next to the discard menu.] Just get me a coffee and make it quick.

[ So after serving this jerk a few tables over, Lux assumed that things couldn't get much worse.

Never, ever make that assumption.

Her blood practically boiling, she does her best not to grit her teeth into a sneer. ]

Excuse me, but we do not allow feet on the table at this establishment. I'll have to ask you to place them on the floor before I am able to take your order.

[zetsuketsu]

Hmph. You're awfully pushy around here but fine.

[He'll oblige Lux's request rather politely, removing his feet from the table to set them back on the floor where they belong.

... But not before knocking the menu off to land at Lux's feet.]

Oops. Could you grab that for me, I actually think I'd like to take another look.

[ Actually she doesn't, but she also doesn't want to get in trouble with her management. Pulling a pen out of her apron, she takes out a pad of paper as well, ready to take his order.

Then, of course, he drops the menu. On purpose. Eyebrows raising a bit, the blond takes a breath. ]

Of course I can.

[ Somehow she manages to say it not through gritted teeth, but, rather, with a sickeningly sweet, sing-song tone of voice. Which, honestly, was probably more telling of her irked mood. Kneeling down to pick it up, she half expects him to try to put his feet on her now. Try it. She'll get you kicked out so fast... ]
