Tsubasa has put up posters for the Japanese Culture Appreciation Club. Most of them are fairly innocuous, with pictures of sushi, ninja, and various other archetypically Japanese things. There is one that stands out more than the others though. It has a crude drawing of what is probably a samurai flanked by impeccably brushed text. Tsubasa's bad at drawing, but excellent at calligraphy.

"Join the Japanese Culture Appreciation Club Today!" It says, followed by "For more details, please contact Miss Kazanari at the staff room" in smaller text at the bottom.

Because Tsubasa really wants her club to do well, she's going to be sneaking around the grounds watching for people who seem interested.

An email is sent to everyone in the school. Those who dare to open the video attached get to see Tsubasa and Maria's mugs filling the screen as they set up. For a former pop star Tsubasa's surprisingly terrible at dealing with the camera.

"Ahem, ahem. Good day everyone, the Japanese Culture Appreciation Club and the Cooking Club are organising a joint event next Friday. We will be watching the classic period film Seven Samurai. For the Cooking Club, Miss Cadenza- zav- Miss Maria?"

"The cooking club will be making snacks for everyone to eat and enjoy while watching the movie." Maria tried to hold it together and look like a teacher, trying not to laugh at Tsubasa failing to say her last name correctly.

"And if you like what you see, you are always free to join either club. Or even both, if you're really dedicated! Please consider it!" Tsubasa nodded seriously before turning to her partner with a "Maria, don't laugh!"

"Saying not to laugh isn't helping." Guess it was one of the silly perks of having a dense sword partner.

"If you can make it to the joint event it will be a lot of fun. Any leftovers food wise you can bring home as well." Maria was mainly interested in the last part since having tasty food always made her feel happy. Meaning everyone was going to make a lot of food even if they didn't really notice right away.

"Your name is just really difficult, okay?" Tsubasa's more than a little embarrassed as she reaches for the camera to turn it off.

Tsubasa and Maria can be found in the staff room, chatting and waiting for anyone who wants to join their clubs.

"Japanese Culture Appreciation Club?" said Kamala, looking at the flier.

She hadn't really immersed herself in Japanese culture, reading up on the flier. "I wonder... maybe I should join this..."

[1wing]

"You really should." Tsubasa appeared behind Kamala, much like the ninja-trained idol she is.

"We're hosting a movie night next Friday, please consider showing up, and if you like it, joining."

[ms_perfection]

"Holy shi---!" Exclaimed Kamala, jumping at the appearance of Tsubasa. "You scared me! Wait, this is yours?"

Well, she does look Japanese after all... she supposed it was legit.

[1wing]

"That's correct. I am the club advisor." Tsubasa answered with a proud nod. It's her first club! And she really likes it! It's a good thing!

"We're always looking for more members. I believe it would be good for the rest of your studies, too."

[ms_perfection]

"Well I am kind of enrolled in Fundamentals for Japanese," said Kamala with a sheepish grin.

"I guess I should join up, see what I can do, right? I'm Kamala by the way."

[1wing]

"Excellent," Tsubasa nodded. She liked what she liked, and the more people liked it the better. (Unless it means all the stuff gets sold out.)

"Kamala Khan, right? I am Tsubasa Kazanari, I'm one of the PE teachers here, and the club advisor, but you already knew that." Why did she know the names of all the students? She just worked too hard.

"Ah yeah." She wasn't weirded out that her teacher knew her already. Did that fight in the streets a few days ago really get that big?

"Miss Kazanari right? I guess thanks for having me."

[1wing]

"No, thank you for showing interest. We meet twice a week. I have yet to decide what our first activity will be, but I'm considering teaching everyone Shadow Binding." Tsubasa nodded with a smile. She was trying to hold it together, but she was really excited to have someone show interest!

Now to reel her in with something cool? Maybe?

[ms_perfection]

She had her at Shadow Binding. "Wait what? Shadow Binding? What is that exactly?"

She wasn't aware of anything of that nature coming from Japan, unless it was a secret magical girl thing...?

[1wing]

"It's an ancient Japanese technique, mainly practised by ninjas." Tsubasa explained as she reached into her pocket and pulled out a pen.

"What it does, is that by pinning a person's shadow to the ground, I can stop their movement entirely." And with a flick, she tosses the pen hard enough that it goes tip-first into the ground, stabbing Kamala's shadow.

"You shouldn't be able to move now."

[ms_perfection]

"That's the silliest... wait... I can't move..." Kamala tried to lift her legs and arms, and her eyes went wide with surprise.

"Well I'll be...! That's... really cool actually."

[1wing]

"Ufufu. It really is cool." Tsubasa's really proud that she managed to impress the student, and it shows on grin on her face.

"And if you remove it," she explained as she plucked the pen out out of the ground, "the curse is broken and you should have no trouble moving again!"

[ms_perfection]

"So anyone can learn this?" asked Kamala as she was freed.

"Not just magical girls?"

[1wing]

"My own ninjutsu teacher is a man, so I think he would be quite surprised if it was a magical girl trick." Tsubasa giggled slightly, trying to imagine Ogawa in a frilly magical girl's outfit.

"Anyone with the passion and at least a passing level of physical fitness can start to learn this, but hopefully by the time you're done it won't just be a passing level."

[ms_perfection]

"That is pretty cool. Back in my world, there's ninja of course but I've never actually met one before." Considering how weird her world was, it wasn't a big stretch.

"I suppose becoming a magical girl might have some effort in the fitness thing."

[1wing]

"Ninja that reveal themselves easily tend not to be very good ninja." Tsubasa points out. It sounds hypocritical, but it's not really. She learned ninjutsu, but she would never call herself a proper ninja. If anything, she's a sentinel. A defender.

[ms_perfection]

"Well, the only really ninja who work for the Japanese supervillains though, I can't think of any off hand at the moment to count for superhero ninja." Admitted Kamala.

[1wing]

"Now you can be the first you know to use ninjutsu for justice!" Tsubasa declared. Where she came from, ninja were typically under the employ of the Japanese government, for good or for ill, as they had always been. But if they were good, Kamala wouldn't know of them.

"Admittedly, I'm no master myself. The skills I can impart to you are limited, but it's not a ninjutsu club. That just happens to be a part of our activities."

[ms_perfection]

"Well as long as I'm learning something cool, I think I can go with it," said Kamala with a grin.

"All right, I'll make sure to arrive in plenty of time!"

[1wing]

"Excellent. I'll see you there." Tsubasa grinned, and pat Kamala on the shoulder in an attempt to be teacherly.

Unlike most people, Megumi simply tears off the poster from the walls.

"These look centuries old. Modern sushi ain't just round..."

Yes, she is Japanese, but from a different time.

[1wing]

"Hey, those aren't for tearing off!" Tsubasa puts a hand on Megumi's shoulder with a frown. Where did she come from? Don't mind the sensei, she has ninja skills.

"And there's nothing wrong with traditional sushi!"

[mugenhatsuden]

"They aren't?" Megumi jumps, looking sheepish. "I'd thought we're supposed to keep them."

Whoops.

"There isn't anything wrong with sushi. That style's at least decades old, that's what..."

[1wing]

"Do you normally do that? But never mind." Tsubasa produces a spare poster out of nowhere and pins it back up. She has photocopies.

"When it comes to things like sushi, I think you will find that the traditional ways are often best. There is something that can be said for a style that has survived hundreds of years."

[mugenhatsuden]

"I'd need one to find out where to go."

But anyway.

"Yeah, but -" never mind, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to talk to someone from earlier than she was, they wouldn't get it. "- do we get to make and eat it ourselves? I could do with some home food."

[1wing]

"That is a good point. I'll pin little pads under the posters next time, thank you." Tsubasa nods, taking the advice to heart. There were posters that were like that, right? It'd cost a bit more, but it can't hurt.

"I hardly see why not. I'm the club advisor, not the club president. You girls should be the one who set the agenda. It would be easier for me to teach you ninjutsu than cooking, but I'm sure we can bring in someone to help."

[mugenhatsuden]

That was the point of having posters, Megumi thought... but anyway. Food is more important.

"You can teach ninjutsu?" Not that she'd benefit a lot out of it, given her fighting style, but. "That's cool. Is there anywhere I can sign up?"

Her mind's still more on the food, really.

[1wing]

"I can indeed." Tsubasa nods. She's not a master like Ogawa, but she knows enough to teach the basics to her students. Shadow Binding, walking on water, those were the basics.

"The same way you sign up for any club. Take a form and submit it to the club advisor or president!" And she sweeps a form out of her bag to hand it to Megumi.

[mugenhatsuden]

"Then, please teach me. I can fly, but that's about it." She practically has a 0 in stealth points. Seriously, she might need help in that sector.

Megumi takes the form and looks at it curiously.

"Is there a deadline for sending this in?"

[1wing]

"That is a teacher's job, after all. You don't have to worry about it." Tsubasa replies with an easy smile. Call it old-fashioned, but that's what she believes.

"You can join the club at any time, but our first meeting of the year is in two weeks, after the movie event."

[mugenhatsuden]

Megumi isn't big on movies, so it's a good arrangement for her.

"Gotcha. I'll try and be there."

Good day....?

[ Is this the staff room? Someone with impeccable posture and hair nearly as impossible as Tsubasa and Maria's peers uncertainly in. She's holding a Japanese Appreciation flyer, but is this also where Cooking Club hopefuls should report...?

Towa really hopes she is Doing This Right. ]

[1wing]

[ Tsubasa spins around in her spinny teacher's chair to face the newcomer. ]

Good day to you too. Are you here to join one of our clubs?

[ A new member! Tsubasa can barely contain herself! ]

[almostanthy]

[ Gasp, a teacher! In an official teacher chair and everything! Towa is not intimidated by this sight, however. A Princess outranks even the educational staff.

She does require something from the faculty, however, so she holds up the flyer and nods. ] I am. The Cooking Club, if you please.

[ This Japanese Appreciation one is the only one that listed where to sign up, so....She looks up at Tsubasa with regal expectancy. ]

[bindingsoul]

I'm the person you're looking for then.

[ Hopefully she doesn't scare the new recruit off, dealing with students is still fairly new to Maria. ]

[almostanthy]

[ Oh, she's talking to the wrong person. Towa switches targets, nodding her head. ] I'm in your hands!

[ A pause, and then, more quietly, almost as if she's reluctant to ask the question but she can't help it: ] We will be learning to independently prepare sustenance...correct?

[1wing]

Independently preparing sustenance? Is that what you do, Maria? [ Tsubasa's not making fun of Towa, she's legitimately curious herself.

She thinks about cooking and what exactly it is approximately none of the time. She has SAKIMORI KNIFE SKILLS but not much else. ]

[bindingsoul]

Learning how to make tasty food would be a better way to explain it?

[ Sustenance kinda implies you're not enjoying the food. ]

[almostanthy]

[ What a relief. This shall be an excellent complement to Towa's Princess Lessons, then. ] How shall I register?

[bindingsoul]

I'll go get a registration form for you.

[ Thankfully Maria thought ahead and had some on the table that she was sharing with Tsubasa. ]

If you fill it out and return it to me you'll be added to the club member list.

Ah, thank you very much...

[ When offered the form, Towa will look about for a place to complete it right here and now. Then she realizes maybe that's not what she's supposed to do. ] I'll be finished presently.

Attending a club seems like a double edged sword to Yuni, considering her position. On one hand, it'd be hard to juggle. And yet at the same time, it would help her blend in at Crux. Still, she's been ignoring most of the posters...

At this one, however, she pauses. "Ah, Japanese...? Oh, like Tsuna." She knows she won't get to see the other mafia boss very often considering his training is still happening in Japan... Maybe this would be a nice surprise?

Going through her pockets, she takes out a small pen and notepad and starts writing down all the details. "Kaza...nari..."

[1wing]

"Yes, did you call for me?" Tsubasa pops out of approximately nowhere. Her ninjutsu has been getting better lately, she should tell Ogawa.

"If you're interested in the club, it's still open." And she really wants more people to join the club! It's a cool club! There are no clubs more amazing!

[giglio_unica]

There's no describing how high pitched the squeak Yuni makes at being surprise, nearly dropping her notepad and fumbling to catch it. "Oh- no, I'm sorry, I was writing things down so I don't forget!"

Calming down, she gives a slight bow to the other girl. She remembers that much of Japanese culture, and it would be appropriate in this situation right? "I was thinking about it! I have a partner who's from Japan, so... I thought it would be good to do something like this!"

[1wing]

"I see, I see!" Tsubasa nods and returns the bow. "It's good to spread your horizons. You might be able to surprise your partner some day, too!"

She crosses her arms over her chest, pleased. "Feel free to come visit the club any time! We meet twice a week."

[giglio_unica]

"I'd be glad if I could do that!" Tsuna seems like he runs into so much trouble normally as it is, after all. He could use something nice in his life.

Smiling at how- energetic? the other girl is, Yuni nods her head. "I'll be sure to do so. Should I bring anything, or just myself?" Italian food, she's confident about. Japanese... not so much.

[1wing]

"Bring your spirit." Tsubasa answered with conviction. She was really quite excited about this. "Also your uniform, I may need the students to transform, so at least carry your brooch."

...Ah. For a moment, Yuni seems a bit awkward because transforming will most definitely give her away. Still, she gives a nod.

"I'm still a first year, but... I'll look to you for guidance. Um-" What's the word? "Senpai?"

it's okay I've been terrible the past week too

"It's 'Sensei'. 'Senpai' is for your upperclassmen, and I'm hardly that any more." Tsubasa explained with a smile. Ah, but she loves the sound of those words. To be entrusted with the responsibility of a teacher!

"I'll see you again once clubs properly start."
