NEW BEGINNINGS
Spring is here and newest crop of students have finally arrived at Crux Academy and Nebulae Institute. Both campuses are abuzz with activity as first years filter in, some confused, others excited and honored to be attending such a prestigious institution. Class assignments would be found on the large bulletin board toward the front of campus, and while some friends may find themselves once again sharing the same class, others will be given the opportunity to nurture new relationships with future friends (or enemies).
Classes for the first day will be short, punctuated by a welcoming ceremony led by each school's respective headmaster and headmistress, as well as an upperclassman that has some significance to the rest of the student body. Students are then permitted to take the rest of the day for themselves, to get acclimated to the campus as well as Galactica, should they so choose. Why not explore the school? Take a trip into the city? Or perhaps get to know your dorm mate, classmates or fellow faculty members? Or perhaps, if you are that sort of person, terrorize the town? The choice is yours.

[Mami isn't letting the new students down. When lunch rolls around, she is equipped. She stayed up in her dormitory, baking cookies and a cake. Now, she sits at a table in the cafeteria. There are fancy plates, with both slices of carrot cake and shortbread cookies, all for the taking.]
[Mami sits behind it, smiling. Except when she sips her tea.]
[It's somehow always hot and always perfect, because of course it is. Come, new students! Get your free desserts!]
B. Galactica
[After classes are over, Mami's out for a walk. The girl adjusts her uniform idly; she looks around the shops, periodically, but helping be part of the welcome wagon is tiresome. So, after she's found a park where no one from the school is immediately in sight...]
[Mami plops down and sighs with relief.]
B. (Tagging you with someone other than Lux for once!)
Lumina wants to play. Let's have a little fun, blondie.
The dark energy forming into a spider-like creature made of shadows, only a bit larger than her hand, it jumps down, crawling toward Mami's feet. Hello friend, it's nice to meet you. ]
(gasp!!)
[Mami stares down at the spider. She moves her feet, pulling them up from the ground -- and onto the bench, so the spider's not on them. She looks down at the spider. She is, briefly, suspicious of it.]
[Monsters can start in every shape, every size...]

Good afternoon, wonderful weather we're having, don't you think?
[ Did you know that Lumina was fantastic at voice overs? Only not really, because it definitely sounds like a young teen throwing her voice off. Who needs to play with dolls when you can play with demonic looking chaos fiends? ]

[She smiles pleasantly down at the spider -- then scoooots over a few inches to the left, because eek. Bugs. She looks at it, though, and tilts her head. That voice...]
Your voice is very interesting, little spider. Not at all what I would have expected.

[She sighs, melodramatically, and... moves her arm. Then Mami cuts the little spider a look. WHY MUST IT BE SPIDERS? D:]
I thought you might be, let's say, someone's familiar. Or perhaps their pet.

Her voice raises a bit in pitch, as Lumina has gotten a little bored of this game. ]
He's not a familiar. Just a little creature I invited over from the void.
[ Hopping down from a nearby, dressed in a striped sweater and short, frilly black skirt, she puts a fist under her chin. She smiles smugly. ]
But I thought someone like you would be able to figure that out. What do they teach you in that school anyway?

[Mami looks up from the spider to Lumina, after she leaps down. Her scowl turns into a more neutral expression; Mami tries to be pointedly polite to people, especially if she picks up on hostility.]
[Of course, the cracks are visible; she's tense and nervous, and she eyes Lumina with a frown that she can't quite repress.]
They teach us a number of useful skills. And we make quite a few wonderful friends there. But... not a great deal about void spiders.
[Mami don't nervously glance at the spider, it ruins the effect--too late]

[ Lumina, you know exactly what you did. Still, that gets an easy smirk out of the younger girl, who lets her hands swing behind her back. ]
I'm surprised, what are they teaching you in that school anyway? Oh, right, love and justice. How's that treating you? Doesn't look like it's really doing you any good.
[ Spider bro agrees. Was he nodding? ]

[ She rests a fist under her chin. ]

[She says it coolly... but it's Mami, and she can't entirely keep her frustration out of her voice or her posture. She gives away more than she'd like.]

[ She practically cooed it, a smug grin spreading across her face. ]
I didn't know blondie here was so touchy! I guess I better be careful next time.

[She stands up from where she was sitting, her arms folding. She gives her a good side-eye.]

[Totally called on it. Mami huffs, then starts to walk away. If only she could handle things a little more gracefully.]

[ And before Mami gets the chance to leave, Lumina disappears in a surge of shadows. At least the spider has manners and waves before poofing off as well. ]

Ah, Kyouko! I didn't know you were here. [She smiles; it's actually a little nervous.] Did I bake enough?

[Kirino's a little hesitant to take a plate for himself, but he does after a few moments. He takes a bite of one of the shortbread cookies, his face lighting up when he does.]
